Sitka is situated on Baranof Island on the outer waters of Alaska’s Inside Passage, and is accessible only by air and by sea. Visitor's Trolley Bus
May-Sept, on days with large cruise ship port of calls. Trolley bus operates one hour after scheduled ship arrival time. Sitka's weather can be very unpredictable.  Plan to dress in layers. Start with a short sleeve shirt, add a sweater & a light waterproof jacket (Sitka is located in the Tongass National Rainforest and receives approximately 95 inches of precipitation annually). Average daily high temperatures range from 61F in July & 37.5F in December. You can easily add or peel layers depending on weather changes or your activity. Comfortable, weather resistant walking shoes are a must year-round!
